Grant applications

The Finnish Veterinary Foundation invites applications for grants twice a year, usually in January and September. Grants may be applied for by completing the application forms available on the Foundation's website during application periods. Further information can be obtained from the section "Instuctions for applicants".

 

Grant applications must be submitted to the Foundation during the application period specified in the invitation for applications. If you are applying for funding for the same research project from several foundations, you must submit a seprate application for each foundation. Personal research grants may be awarded to applicants who are not employed full-time during the grant period.

The application must indicate the amount of the grant requested, a detailed plan for its use, a research plan (if relevant), and the applicant's home address, personal identity code, taxation municipality and bank account number.Furthermore, travel grant applications must include a cost estimate for travel and accommodation provided by the conference organiser through a travel agent. Travel grants will be awarded primarily for forthcoming travel.

To apply for a grant, please complete the Foundation's online research grant application form (link) or the travel grant application form (link) and submit it by the deadline indicated in the invitation for applications either electronically through these pages or by post to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Agnes Sjöberginkatu 2, 00014 University of Helsinki.

   

Instructions for reporting and submitting report forms

Within a year of receiving a research grant, each grant recipient must submit to the Foundation a report on the use of the grant and the most salient research results obtained.

Each travel grant recipent must submit a brief travel report to the Foundation within two months of arrival.

Submission of the report is a prerequisite for eligibility to receive another grant from the Foundation.

Instructions regarding pension insurance for grant recipients

Pension insurance for grant recipients

As of the beginnig of 2009, the Farmers' Social Insurance Institution Mela has been responsible for statutory pension insurance for grant or scholarship recipients.

According to the Farmers' Pension Act (Maatalousyrittäjien eläkelaki), all grant and scholarship recipients living in Finland who have been awarded a grant in Finland in 2009 or after shall be covered by insurance. The grant or scholarship must be awarded for a minimum of four months of work in Finland and in the amount of at least EUR 1,093.49, which corresponds to an annual earnings of EUR 3,280.47 (2009 level).

 

Once the grant recipient has received a grant that fulfils the above insurance criteria and has begun working, he or she is responsible for obtaining the statutory insurance from the Farmers' Social Insurance Institution Mela. Such insurance must be requested within three months of undertaking grant-related work.
